I am often asked about the bold use of color and pattern-mix in my design work, and how I manage to keep the spaces from looking exhausting and overdone.

It really is my natural default when I design. Color and pattern mix is a part of how my brain works, but I will attempt to share my thought process.

I tend to start with an inspiration piece first. This is usually a colorful and patterned item like a textile, rug, artwork or even a small accessory item. But not always.
From that, I will pull my color palette. As I develop a color palette, I keep balance and harmony in mind.
Then I start introducing other patterns of varying scales, making sure that some of the colors have things in common with each other. I tend to expand the color palette from here by pulling in more color, but still looking for commonality with other elements already chosen.
I make sure there are great textures as well, and from pulling together the materials samples, you can begin to see the vibe for the room developing. Then I tweak as necessary, and from there you see a gorgeously layered room emerge.
Bold can easily be gaudy if you are not careful, but bold doesn't always mean colorful. Bold can be a statement-making piece in a room that commands attention - even in a minimalist room you can find boldness if it is well done.

Sharing some bold and stylish pieces that I curated from some of my favorite online shops.
Anyone of these items can become the inspiration behind a room, or even a whole home.
Inspiration is everywhere!
