This Katy TX master bedroom retreat started life as a bland, builder basic bedroom. With plenty of windows letting in an abundance of natural light, we saw its true potential, and the opportunity to go dark, moody, bold and sophisticated maximal. We started with the ceiling that is only 8' tall. Instead of hiding that shortcoming, we layered a classic architectural element - the paneling that gives the illusion of coffered ceiling. To add just a bit more of a bold and unique touch, we highlighted the intersections in black. We wrapped the walls in a black grasscloth wallpaper, with an ever so slight sheen with the texture. We layered a great mix of beautiful patterns in the textiles we used. A daring patter mix and bold color story makes this room a joy to be in.
